La Royal Academy of Art ( salone del Mobile 2012 )dal 17 al 22 Aprile.
Per il quinto anno consecutivo, la Regia Accademia di Belle Arti dell'Aia presenterà se stessa nella propria sede in occasione del Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano. La presentazione si terrà da martedì 17 aprile a domenica 22 aprile 2012. Nello Studio Iroko, in Zona Tortona, studenti e neodiplomati provenienti dai corsi di studio di ArtScience, Fotografia, Belle Arti, Architettura d'interni e Design del mobile esibiscono i risultati della ricerca artistica che hanno portato avanti durante gli studi. Quest’anno la presentazione si sofferma sullo slittamento di atteggiamento che investe il concetto di natura nelle interazioni con un ambiente prettamente frutto della mano dell'uomo.
I percorsi di fruizione offerti in tutte le facoltà della Regia Accademia di Belle Arti (KABK) sono mirati a stimolare un approccio sperimentale e ad assistere gli studenti in una loro formulazione della ricerca artistica e del design. La presentazione mostra una selezione di opere di studenti che si riconnettono all'interazione con un ambiente in gran parte umano, rivisitato come un nuovo tipo di natura che invoglia a nuovi modi di gestire e custodire. Le opere sono istantanee colte nello sviluppo creativo e critico degli studenti ed esprimono la loro riflessione su questi temi.
Una fragile pianta viene equipaggiata con una protesi robotica che le consente di interagire in modo diverso con gli esseri umani nel progetto 'Jurema Action Plant' di Ivan Henriques. Partendo dal naturale meccanismo di difesa della pianta 'Mimosa Pudica' (nota anche con il nome di 'sensitiva'), Henriques ha sviluppato un'auto robotica che rileva lo stato della pianta che supporta e nutre e da cui si allontanerà in caso di una forte reazione della pianta a ciò che la circonda. Ispirato dalla differenza fra il significato della natura in Brasile e in Olanda, il lavoro si presenta come una riflessione su come interagiamo con il nostro ambiente naturale.
Jian Kotalikova invece ci presenta le sue piastrelle che consistono di tessiture organiche fatte per essere toccate. Gli studenti di Design del mobile Marlies van Putten e Martijn Rigters presenteranno il loro approccio al design, che consiste in un dialogo con un processo fisico che scelgono di controllare solo parzialmente. Ci sono anche installazioni, performance e presentazioni video curate da Maarten Boekweit, Guus Kaandorp, Thomas van Linge, Thijs Molenaar, Matthijs Munnik e Wais Wardak.

l Salone del Mobile in Milan
For the fifth year in a row, the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague will present itself at its own location at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. The presentation will take place from Tuesday the 17th of April to Sunday the 22nd of April 2012. In Studio Iroko in Zona Tortona, students and recent alumni of the studies ArtScience, Photography, Fine Arts, Interior Architecture and Furniture Design show the results of artistic research during their studies. This year, the presentation demonstrates shifting attitudes to the concept of nature in interactions with an environment that is mostly man-made.
The education of all departments at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) stimulates an experimental attitude and assists in the formulation of artistic and design research by its students. The presentation shows a selection of works by students that relate to the interaction with a largely human environment, seen as a new kind of nature that invites new ways of shepherding. The works are snapshots in the creative and critical development of the students and their reflection on these themes.
A fragile plant is given a robotic prosthesis to enable it to interact with humans in a new way in ‘Jurema Action Plant’ by Ivan Henriques. Starting from the natural defence mechanism of the ‘Mimosa Pudica’ plant (also known under the name of ‘touch- me- not’), Henriques developed a robotic car that senses the state of the plant it supports and feeds and that will drive away in case of a strong reaction of the plant to its surroundings. Inspired by the difference between the meaning of nature in Brazil and in The Netherlands, the work is a reflection on how we interact with our natural environment.
Jian Kotalikova, on the other hand, presents her 'Grow' wall tiles that consist of organic textures made to be touched. Furniture design students Marlies van Putten and Martijn Rigters will present their approach to design, that consists of a dialogue with a physical process that they choose to only partially control. There are also installations, performances and video presentations by Maarten Boekweit, Guus Kaandorp, Thomas van Linge, Thijs Molenaar, Matthijs Munnik and Wais Wardak.
